The Sioux trued with all of their power to right back. They trued to prevent the U.S. from coming into their land, and they stood up for their nation. Plus they gained the trust of a leader worth keeping. Sitting Bull. Hw fought ahainst the discrimination and oppression that his people faced. When news spreaded that (quote, Ghost Dance at Wounded Knee page 2) "The Government forcibly "purchased" nine million acres from the reservation of Sioux, "many people began presenting their opinions diffrently, for example, Sitting Bull began to perform the Sun Dance. "This was a special ritual for bringing on visions (quote Ghost Dance at Wounded Knee, page 4). In his vision he saw U.S. Soldiers falling, which concluded a great victroy for the sioux (U.S. surrender) Although around 210 Sioux died due to their bracery. they will always be remembered as heros and an example of a rising culture. We even have many more Indian Reservations, such as Akwesasne, which is in Upstate New York (for the Mohawk Indians). Because of the Sioux Indians , many other Cultures are fearless to represent their culture. No more racism, apartie, or oppression goes around in the U.S. Most importantly, my hero Sitting Bull was assasinated by police officers vecasue of what he belieced was unfair turned out to be wrong (in the eyes of the United States Government). THANK YOU

The US thought manifeet destiny was necessary since the 1800's. But the US government thought of it as Indian termination as well because once they've pushed the Native Americans too far, there wasn't any "outside land" left to push the Indians to. The Trail of Tears is a great example for Indian removal. Jim Carnes' (1999) description of the Trail of Tears was:
In October, the remaining 13,000 Cherokee men, women and children in the camps were ordered to gather what belongs they could carry and begin moving West, under the guard of U.S. Army soldiers. The travelers marked every stopping place with new graves. In places where the ground was frozen or there wasn't enough time for burial, they covered the bodies of the dead with blanks. Soldiers who took pity on the Indians and tried to help them could be punished for their actions. (P.18)
This proves how the US soldiers mistreated the Native Americans. Also America was suppose to have freedom of religion. But the US were afraid of the Indian's rituals, premonitions and visions. They hated their religion and were against it when they created the Ghost Dance. Jim Carnes (1999) showed "The whites had laws to protect their own freedom of religion, but the Ghost Dance frightened them. The religious frenzy seemed more a portent of rebellion than a broken culture's desperate attempt to make sense of its collapsing world." So the Whites doesn't want the Indians to have freedom for religion while the U.S. has that freedom.
These injustices done to the American Indians took shape in different situations. For treaties that the U.S. stipulated, they never kept their word. Jim Carnes (1999) demonstrated "The government agents broke their word and arrested Sitting Bull." The U.S. government didn't keep their words and that's why in 1973, the Sioux had a peaceful protest wanted the U.S. government to review all the treaties and show how they had not kept their promises. The government also forcefully purchased nine million acres from the Sioux. Which is the same as taking their land by force, another violation of their treaties. At Wounded Knee, all the Indians have already surrendered but they still captured them and put them in the Army camp, all 120 men and 230 women and children. The soldiers searched for weapons on the Indians but one dropped by accident and caused it to fire. The soldiers panicked and shot 290 Sioux with 25 American soldiers dead. If they didn't want to get revenge, then they would've just shot a few Native Americans dead instead of killing all of them including Big Foot the leader. The soldiers oppressed the Native Americans and massacred them mercilessly.
